Masala Dal ( Masala Red Lentil)



Ingredients:

  •  100 grams masoor dal (split red lentil)
  •  1 medium sized onion (chopped)
  •  1 medium sized tomato (chopped)
  •  1-2 green chilies (chopped)
  •  1/2 tsp. panch phoran
  •  1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  •  2 tbsp. oil
  •  Salt to taste
  •  A few coriander leaves (chopped)

Making Procedure:


Wash and boil the dal with 1 cup of water and keep aside.

Heat oil into a pan and add panch phoran and green chili. When the spices start crackling add onion and fry it until the onion edges turn semi brown.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook it till the tomatoes are become soft. Then add turmeric powder and salt, stir it for a while.

Now add the boiled dal into it and add 1 cup of water. Stir well and cook on medium heat on 5 minutes.

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve with hot plain rice and aloo bhaja or papad bhaja.
