Arhar Dal with Curry Leaves (Split Yellow Pigeon Peas with Curry Leaves)



Ingredients:

  •  100 grams arhar dal/split toor dal
  •  1/4 tsp. cumin seeds
  •  1/4 turmeric powder
  •  1 tbsp. sugar
  •  1-2 dry red chilies
  •  1 tbsp. oil
  •  10-12 curry leaves
  •  1 tsp. ghee (clarified butter)
  •  Salt
  •  1 cup water + 1/2 cup water

Making Procedure:


Wash and boil the dal with 1 cup of water in a pressure cooker. After 1 whistle remove from heat and keep it aside until steam dissipate to its own.

Heat oil into a pan and temper with cumin seeds, dry red chilies and curry leaves. Add the boiled dal and 1/2 cup water into it.


Then add turmeric powder, salt & sugar, stir it well and cook for 3- 5 minutes on medium heat.

Now add a spoon of ghee on it and serve with rice.
