Doi Maach (Fish with yogurt)


Ingredients:



  • 4 pieces rohu fish
  • 60 grams cold sour curd/yogurt
  • 1 large onion (make a paste)
  • 2-3 green chilies (slitted)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1/2 + 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp. ginger paste
  • 2 tsp. garlic paste
  • 1/2" cinnamon stick
  • 2-3 green cardamom
  • 2-3 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • 5-6 tbsp. oil
  • 100 ml water
  • A few coriander leaves (chopped)


Making Procedure:


Wash the fishes, marinate them with 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder, a little salt and keep aside for 5 minutes.


Roast cinnamon, cardamom, clove into a hot tawa and grind them.


Heat oil in a kadai. When the oil begin to smoke, reduce heat and slowly add fish pieces. Fry them both sides until they turn golden brown. Then remove them from the oil and keep aside.


Now add onion and ginger-garlic paste into the same oil. Fry till it turn light brown.


Then slitted green chilies, grinded masala and fry it for 1 minute on low medium heat. Reduce the heat. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, curd, salt and fry for 2-3 minutes. Then add 100 ml water, stir it and bring to boil.


When start boiling add the fish pieces. Cook it covered for 8-10 minutes on low medium heat.


Remove from heat and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Serve hot with plain boiled rice.
