Potato and Onion Pakora


Ingredients:


  • 2 medium sized potato (matchstick cut)
  • 3 medium sized onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2-3 green chilies (finely chopped)
  • 200 grams gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp. nigella seeds (kalonji)
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • Salt
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water if needed

Making Procedure:


In a mixing bowl mix potato, onion, salt, rub them together and keep it for 8-10 minutes. This is to bring out the natural juice of  the raw ingredients. So that by adding less water we can bind all the things together.

Now add green chilies, turmeric powder, nigella seeds, gram flour and baking powder.  Mix well all the ingredients by hand.

Heat oil in a kadai till it begins to smoke. Then reduce heat and add little amount of mixture drop into the hot oil,  fry them in small batches till they turn golden brown.

Then remove them from the oil and keep it on a paper towel (as it soaks the oil from pakora). Repeat for the remaining portions of the raw mixture.

Now Pakora is ready to serve .

Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
