Panner Curry

Panner Curry

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams paneer (cottage cheese)
  • 2 medium sized onion (make a paste)
  • 2 tsp. poppy seeds (make a paste)
  • 2 tsp. raisins paste
  • 2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tbsp. sour curd / yogurt
  • 2 dry red chilies
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 2 cardamoms
  • Pinch of sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp. oil
  • salt to taste
  • 200 ml water

Making Procedure:

At first cut the paneer into medium sized cubes. Put dry red chilies, cumin seeds and cardamoms on a dry griddle and roast them. Then let it cool and grind them.

Heat oil in a pan and add paneer cubes. Fry them lightly, remove from oil and keep aside.

Add onion paste into the same oil and fry until it turns golden brown in color. Now add ginger-raisins-poppy seeds paste and fry for a minute on low heat.

Then add sour curd, pinch of sugar, salt and grounded masala. Mix well and fry for 2 minutes on low heat.

After that add water and bring it to boil. When starts boiling add the fried paneer cubes. Reduce the heat and cover the pan with lid.

Cook it for 3-5 minutes on low medium heat or till the gravy thickens to your desire consistency.

Remove from heat and serve hot with any flavoured rice (pulao) or roti.

Tips:

To keep the fried paneer soft, put them in the light salt water after frying them.
