Chicken Hong Kong Style













Ingredients:

  • 200 grams boneless chicken (cut into cubes)
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup green capsicum (thinly slices)
  • 2 tsp. ginger (grated)
  • 1/2 tsp. dry red chili (chopped)
  • 1 tsp. green chili (chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper powder
  • 2 tsp. dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. chili-garlic sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp. cornflour (dissolved in 2 tbsp. water)
  • 1/4 tsp. sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup oil

For marination:
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/4 tsp. white pepper powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. cornflour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. all purpose flour

Making Procedure:


Marinate the chicken with all the ingredients from marination list and keep it in refrigerator for 1 hour.

Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the marinated chicken pieces till it gets golden brown colour. Remove the chicken pieces from oil, cover with a lid and keep warm.

Temper the remaining oil with chopped dry red chili and add grated ginger. Fry for half a minute on low heat. Add green chilies and chopped onion, fry for 2 minute on low heat. Then add capsicum slices and 
fry for 3-5 minutes on low to medium heat. Add dark soy sauce, chili-garlic sauce and stir the mixture for a minute. 

Then add fried chicken pieces, dissolved cornflour, sugar and salt. Mix well and sprinkle a little water; cook it covered for 2-3 minutes on low heat.  

Remove from heat and serve hot with egg chowmein.
